Welfare is government aid in the form of services and money, to the poor. As of 2003 there are nearly 5 million citizens on the welfare program. [1]

FTL believes in ending welfare because it imposes force, in the form of taxes, to pay for the program. They believe private charity would fill the gap more compassionately and effectively than the current government program.

Welfare promotes dependence on the government and generally results in increased poverty and generational dependency specifically for minority groups. Welfare keeps poor minorities down while simultaneously barring energetic entrepeneurs from excelling due to increased taxes. Generally increasing taxes for welfare results in no more than increasing welfare for lazy beaurocrats and worse lifestyles for urban dwellers and the middle class alike.
