Washington is the northwesternmost state in the lower 48 states and is a socialist paradise. Boasting obnoxious business regulation and taxation as well as one of the highest minimum wages, the politicians won't be happy until everyone is taxed literally to death. Washington state offers low-income residents health care at widely reduced rates, down to 17 dollars a month. This health care is funded through the state run liquor store monopoly - a private entity can not sell hard alcohol, only beer and wine.
Washington state recently passed anti-methamphetamine laws restricting the sale of pseudoephedrine-containing products such as Sudafed, thereby contributing to the general moral panic about drug use. One of their U.S. Representatives, Rick Larsen, is co-chair of the Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine, as well as an all-around statist douchebag.
Demonstrating that Clark Country (in Southern Washington) is completely wrapped up in anti-meth paranoia they recently had a billboard campaign designed to get people to rat out their neighbors. The sign had a picture of a very dirty and disgusting kitchen with used pots and pans on a stove top; the caption read: What is your neighbor making for dinner? Is it METH??
