War
The United States intervened in the civil war between the Communists in the North, and the non Communists in the South. The war is almost universally held to be a mistake and a quagmire today in the United States. Approximately 60,000 US forces died during the conflict in the 1960's and the 1970's. The war ended with US widthdrawl and the Communists overran the South. True Communism never took route, and now Nike is a major employer in vietnam, which has trade relations with the US. The so called "domino theory" that communism would spread from Vietnam through Asia turned out to be wrong.
