Russell Kanning is a Free State Project member living in Keene, New Hampshire and the owner of the Keene Free Press.
Activism
Russell was incarcerated in 2006 while attempting to hand out flyers at the IRS office in Keene, New Hampshire. He called into Free Talk Live the night after he was arrested and stated that he would not go to the hearing for the tickets he received that day. His home was raided and he was taken to Concord, New Hampshire where he was convicted. The judge asked him if he would appear for the sentencing date, and Russell stated that he would not voluntarily show up for the sentencing. The judge incarcerated Russell after the conviction. Russell was ultimately released after serving some time in maximum security prison and a $20 fine.
