Someone with quick access to a style guide: is a sum of dollars treated as singular or plural as used in the phrase "$160 billion in gold were stored"? Brock 05:50, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

In American English, it's "plural construed as singular." In the rest of the world, it's plural. I think. --Error 05:03, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
