That is correct, what Ian describes as a "free society" is simply a libertarian anarcho-capitalism. By all means, anarcho-capitalism could infact be incredibly non-libertarian though it is highly unlikely due to the fact that traditionally with the institution of private property more "social" freedoms tend to develop along with the economic freedoms.

Thus, anarcho-capitalism and Ian's "free society" are one in the same yet it is not necessarily the case that every anarcho-capitalist region will be Ian's "free society." -Rothbardian

Adam Smith

I have not read An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations but according to the article Adam Smith may deserve the credit for the term Free Marketeer. Any out there that has read the book that can comment? Argash 09:12, 10 April 2006 (Eastern Daylight Time)
