The Republicratic Party (offical name: The National People's State Republicratic Workers Unity Party), or simply the "OSP" (Offical State Party) for short, is the result of what is known as the "Great Merger" of the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States. This extraordinary step was a defining moment in the history of the nation.

History

The OSP was established on January 20, 1965 following Lyndon Johnson's defeat over Barry Goldwater in the presidential election of the previous year. Johnson won the election by the largest margin in American history (15,000,000 votes). During Johnson's presidency, both parties began to find common ground in just about every area, including Johnson's "Great Society" plan which was to replace former president Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal". During this time period, conservatives yielded their unwavering support for the welfare state, while the liberals, in turn, began to advocate an intrusive and aggressive, however controversial, foreign policy with the onset of the the Vietnam War. Despite minor disagreements among private citizens, the American public cheered the establishment of their new one-party system.

Public Support

Republicrats proudly appeal to a sense of unity, strength, and commonality that a single-party government can lend a state. They argue that multi-party systems introduce too much division and are unsuitable for economic and political development. This argument was particularly popular during the mid-20th century, as many developing nations sought to emulate the Soviet Union, which had transformed itself from a backward, agrarian nation into a superpower.

Party followers often pay lip service to democracy largely because the Marxist-Leninist ideology which they claim to uphold does call for democratic government. However, without a choice of different parties, elections in the United States are usually largely symbolic. Although other political parties are sometimes allowed by the government, these other parties must subordinate themselves to the dominant party and cannot function as an opposition.

Famous Republicrats

George W. Bush is the current General Secretary of the OSP of the United States. During his tenure in office he has generated a great deal of intraparty controversy among lawmakers, most notably between the rivaled "big government" and "large government" ideologies. Bush, the true and loyal Republicrat he is, consistently advocates intrusive government intervention into the lives of all citizens, especially in their wallets and their bedrooms.	George W. Sen. Hillary Clinton is a candidate for General Secretary in the 2008 election. She currently serves as the junior Senator from New York and is married to former General Secretary Bill Clinton. She is well known for her support of socialized medicine. In October of 2002, the senator voted in favor of bypassing the Constitution and giving the General Secretary unchecked authority to use the U.S. military to wage the War in Iraq. She is currently on record as stating that immediate withdrawal from Iraq would be "a big mistake", but that the Bush administration's open-ended commitment to stay in Iraq is also misguided. Sen. Joseph Lieberman is also a Senator in the Congress of People's Deputies. On August 9, 2006 Lieberman lost the Republicratic primary but announced that he would instead run as a Republicrat.
