Cannabis, or marijuana is a psychoactive product of the plant Cannabis sativa. The herbal form of the drug consists of dried mature flowers and associated leaves of female plants. A crystalized form, known as hashish, consists primarily of glandular hairy parts of the same flower section.
The major biologically active chemical compound in cannabis is Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), commonly referred to as THC.
Most of the show's hosts have used the drug recreationally and or medicinally and promote it's decriminalization or re-legalization along with all other drugs.
Legality
Its illegal use has resulted in millions of arrests, imprisonments, and coincidental growth of the police state. Re-legalization of the plant would result in untold savings of lives and money used to punish this victimless crime.
Uses
The drug can be consumed in a number of ways:
- Smoking
- Vaporizing
- Eating
Besides its psychoactive effect, the plant has had many other important economic benefits; including, food, medicine, paper, rope, etc.
It's medical use has resulted in some of the most egregious violations of civil liberties in the War on Drugs.
Medical uses include:
- Anti-nausea medication
- Anti-convulsive medication
- analgesic
Treatments for migrates, menstrual symptoms, etc.
