Pledge of Allegiance

At one point it was decided that all children must recite the pledge, although a court then ruled against this decision.
As illustrated in the image to the right, people were originally forced to take part in a Nazi salute as part of the pledge, although ths changed after the salute was adopted by the Nazis in Germany.
In the pledge people state their commitment to a piece of cloth that apparently represents the United States. They also have to show their support of god.
Forcing the pledge on children is clearly totally unethical and unconstitutional, not that the government cares in any way.
The pledge
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
