The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was created in 1958 primarily in response to the Space Race. NASA has landed men on the moon, explored (via satellites) every planet in the solar system (and many moons), sent rovers to and from Mars, created the International Space Station, and performs a great amount of research and development.

NASA successes
Moon landing
In 1969, the United States landed men on the Moon, claiming it for all of mankind. This is deemed a success because
- Time and money were put into space exploration
- We beat the Soviets to the Moon, thus winning the Space Race
- We united the country towards a common goal
NASA failures
International Space Station
In 2005, NASA Administrator Michael Griffin publicly admitted that the International Space Station (ISS), one of the most significant projects of NASA, was a mistake. It is estimated that the ISS will have costed a total of $100 billion by 2010, and the lives of 14 astronauts. [1].
- "It is now commonly accepted that was not the right path" - Michael Griffin
