Libertarianism
From Free Talk Live
(Redirected from Libertarians)
Libertarianism is a legal and moral philosophy supporting the maximization of individual freedoms and responsibilities while severely reducing (or abolishing) the size and power of government across the board.
Much of libertarian and anarcho-capitalistic thought stems from the rigorous application of the NAP and the principle of self-ownership.
All hosts of Free Talk Live are at the very least libertarian. Ian especially is known for being an extremist libertarian or anarcho-capitalist. Anarcho-capitalists are libertarians, in the pure sense of the word.
In general, there are three sub-categories within libertarianism:
- Anarchist capitalists (anarcho-capitalists)
- Minarchists
- Constitutionalists
There are also different ways in which people attempt to justify libertarianism:
- Emotionalism (???)
- Societal contract (???)
- Utilitarianism (David and Milton Friedman)
- Consequentialism
- Natural law defense (Rothbard, Hoppe, Block, etc)
