Chemtrails
From Free Talk Live
Chemtrails are the feature of a conspiracy theory involving an alleged plot by the New World Order to poison the population of America, control the weather, or both. The phenomenon referred to as "chemtrails" is vaguely described as contrails that "look different", "bleed across the sky", or in some other wise differ from the contrails which subscribers to the chemtrail conspiracy theory believe to be normal.

Alleged evidence of chemtrails
Chemtrail conspiracy theorists cite the following as evidence for their theory:
* Patterns created by the trails
* Time period for which trails persist
* Odd nature/behavior of planes involved
o Turning around, making a parallel trail
o Apparent activation & deactivation of the trail
o Non-standard 'spraying' equipment
o Lack of radar visibility
However, this "evidence" consists only of anecdotes called in to radio talk shows or posted on conspiracy blogs consisting mainly of prolonged, hysterical rants, baseless conjecture, and accusations against skeptics of their being part of the New World Order.
On occasion, photographs of contrails are submitted as evidence of contrails. However, there is little to no perceivable difference between normal contrails and those designated as chemtrails. Some argue that they are in fact the same thing, and it is only the paranoia of the theorists and their desperation to be believed that causes them to see things which are not really there.
Refutation of the theory
The theory was thoroughly debunked when it was shown that modern jet engines use a new jet technology (known as high-bypass, as opposed to the previous turbo engine technology) which results in the different vapor emission pattern. This refutation was first presented by a blogger called Thunder Pig.
Chemtrails and Free Talk Live
Chemtrail theorists have a long and prolific history of calling in to the show to berate Ian and Mark for their skepticism, accuse them of being part of the New World Order, generally wig out and probably dribble some. The official position of the hosts toward conspiracy theorists in general has been to refer to the theories as "crackpottery" and to make it clear that they don't care. However, they have recently changed their positions to the slightly less inflammatory, synonymous ideas of "fringe conspiracies" and that "it's not relevant" to their goals.
KGEZ Kontroversy
The popularity of the chemtrail theory amongst the listener base of the Kallispell, MT radio station KGEZ was allegedly a factor in their demanding a re-feed of a pro-conspiracy show to replace Free Talk Live.
