Immigration
From Free Talk Live
The hosts of Free Talk Live all seem to support free immigration - the right of all people, citizens or not, to come and go as they please. One major point made with callers who disagree is that welfare must first be abolished. Several callers early in 2006 have raised the objection of communicable disease.
There is some argument about immigration within the libertarian community, notably in states bordering México. With the elimination of welfare expected to occur over some transitional period, free immigration is also expected to be an eventual goal.
The general free market stance on immigration is that once all land is privately owned it is up to each individual property owner to decide if they want to allow others to cross the property.
Ian has also stated that immigration restrictions violate a freedom of movement.
Immigration is a governmental policy that is used to enslave a population. The mere fact that you were born in a particular location does not mean that you wish to remain under that states rule. If you were born in a society in which you do not agree with its culture or its conception of right or wrong you should have the right or ability to extricate yourself from that environment. Governments have banded together to ensure that they maintain a captive population and a captive tax base. We have a name for this type of system, its called slavery. By monopolizing the issuing of passports and conspiring with other governments to exclude each others citizens from crossing boarders all governments collaborate in this international injustice.
There is no justification for discriminating against a person on the basis of where they were born. If you believe in freedom you need to believe that freedoms are a human rights and not reserved as a privilege of birth. There is a word for that too it is called racism.
Anti-open borders
Within recent times, some libertarians, have voiced concerns pertaining to the traditional "open borders" policy held by most libertarians.
It is believed by a number of libertarians that unrestricted immigration into a libertarian society may lead to the undermining of the values that exist inside a libertarian society. This is because large numbers of people may enter a country, who possess no attachment to libertarian ideals and mores or general Western concepts of liberty.
The British-based Libertarian Alliance are prominent advocates of a restricted immigration policy within a libertarian society.
