Help:Cleanup
From Free Talk Live
A wiki requires quite a bit of work to keep it neat and tidy; even though this is one of the least glamourous jobs on a wiki, it falls upon the community to do the work. Exactly what must be done?
- Some pages may be out of date; for instance if a page about current events contains events that are no longer current, it is out of date. To see such articles go to Category:Out of date.
- All articles, entries, or pages should have a category on them. The list of articles that are not categorized is at Special:Uncategorizedpages.
- The same goes for categories. Every category except fundamental should be in another category; other categories either go into fundamental or another existing category. This list of categories is at Special:Uncategorizedcategories.
- It is possible that a category becomes empty. If this happens, it goes into the Special:Unusedcategories page. Deletion requests should never be removed and should be the only category in that list. The other categories should be cleaned up when they crop up.
- Deleting articles is a privileged operation. Because of this, if an article needs to be deleted, it must be done by a member of the community. The articles that have been tagged for deletion are at Category:Deletion requests. The delete request template should not be deleted even though it is in the list; if that is the only item on that page, there is nothing to do.
- Stubs are short articles with a lack of information; they have been created but need more content added to be truly useful. The list of known stubs is at Category:Stubs
