Three factors affect your security in an anarcho-capitalist society. The points below apply to your security from criminals, from fire and other negative circumstances that can negatively affect you and your property:

  • Your own ability for self-defense such as knowing how to use a gun and learning martial arts.
  • Your insurance company has an incentive to keep you alive and will come up with ways of doing that.
  • Hiring a protection agency directly, possibly by banding together with your neighbors or community to distribute the cost. (Those who do not contribute but benefit from the protection will recieve a bill and if they do not pay will be shunned by the community and possibly not recieve protection in the future.)

Why it is in the best interest of private security to protect those who do not pay?

Because crime spreads and if the security agency selectively enforces crime it will eventually get out of hand so it is cost effective to prevent crime while it is still small even if that includes protecting people who do not pay for the service. Furthermore, a person paying for protection does not want to be sitting in a park and have someone mugged right infront of them because part of hiring protection is to recieve some peace of mind knowing that there is someone looking out for your safety, if someone is attacked right infront of you that feeling of safety is gone and the protection agency has failed to provide a good service. In summary, you cannot be safe unless the environment you live in is safe, thus private protection agencies will have to protect the environment.

Those who pay will of course recieve a lot more service than those who do not. So there will be an incentive to be a paying customer.
