David Hicks is an Australian citizen kept without charge at Guantanamo Bay for five years.

He has an assertive military defense lawyer named Major Michael Mori. Major Mori has being doing his job too well and is now threatened with charges himself.

David Hicks was picked up in Afghanistan whilst training with the Taliban. He has previously fought in Bosnia.

His condition is in contrast to the British citizens who were freed at the request of the British government. This highlights the difference in the relationship between USA and Australia, as well as between USA and UK.

There is no crime for which he be charged back home in Australia. The current Gitmo charges are based on retrospective laws.
