Black hood protest

Tell as many people as possible to make themselves black hoods. They can have mesh fabics so you can still see out if you want. Now with those black hoods show up to every government speech reguardless of political affliation. During the speech stand up and turn your back on the speaker while placing the hoods over your heads; stand still silently and deliberately. Clump together in groups and lock arms so it will make it harder to remove you; this may help you feel safer. It will have a major visual impact without having to say a thing.
During election time there will be a whole lot of political speech venues to do this sort of protest with the built in benefit of press being present. If some want to go all out they could wear a tee-shirt or any shirt and write on the back "NOT IN MY NAME" which can be covered up by a jacket until the protest starts; the user of dark red fabric paint will make message look as if it was written in blood; this is a low cost but effective method of protest. Anyone who agrees with you on the protest day but didn't know might just stand up and turn their back on the speakers as well.
Another variant is that hooded people could stand in silent protest in front of places that support the war effort. The ROTC offices, Federal Buildings, Recruitment centers and war contractor offices. I don't know if some people would be dedicated enough to go so far as to wear a black hood all the time. In class, at the dining hall, walking around on campus as a constant silent protest of the war and torture. This will require that you notify the press of your activities. Make sure to notify them of the possibility that you might get arrested and violently attacked by individuals you are protesting. Nothing like potintial conflict and violence to get some press of their lazy asses. Best to have a distressed female call a reporter and bait them with the story like it is a big secret and she is affraid for her boyfriends safety. Many reporters seem to have a Woodward and Berstein complex. If they think they are getting a big scoop more likely to show up than if they are sent a press release to read (which rarely happens).
Don't acknowledge distractors and don't debate with them; just ignore them. Your message is the only one that is important, not acknowledging them. The more angry they become the more they will look like a bunch of out of control violent people.
