The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a part of the Department of Justice.
The ATF was originally part of the Treasury Department. In 2002, most of the agency was moved to the Justice Department and they became the BATFE.
Some people like to refer to them as the Bureau of Arbitrary Technical Findings and Edicts.
